Strategies to Improve CT Dose Optimization for Hybrid PET/CT Imaging
نویسندگان
چکیده
Background: To evaluate whether current dose reduction strategies for the CT component of hybrid Positron Emission Tomography—Computed Tomography (PET/CT) systems could reduce patient with maintaining adequate image quality PET/CT studies. Materials and Methods: Literature survey was initially based on selection keywords years publication to identify potentially relevant articles, then further search conducted authors references from these articles. The abstract each article first appraised decide content this research question. articles were classified into five groups: studies dosimetry, radiation-induced diseases, methods CT-based attenuation correction (CTAC), localization, reducing need a full-dose diagnostic in imaging. 58 peer-reviewed selected 29 used compose literature review. Results: published nuclear medicine medical physics reviewed. contributed 47% - 81% total effective standard study associated diseases. techniques extracted divided three categories: (AC) selectively localizing use, CT. Conclusion: Three have been demonstrated, high potential while an quality, CTCA localization diagnosis, respectively.

Optimization of SPECT-CT Hybrid Imaging Using Iterative Image Reconstruction for Low-Dose CT: A Phantom Study
BACKGROUND Hybrid imaging combines nuclear medicine imaging such as single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) or positron emission tomography (PET) with computed tomography (CT). Through this hybrid design, scanned patients accumulate radiation exposure from both applications. Imaging modalities have been the subject of long-term optimization efforts, focusing on diagnostic application...
متن کاملSCCT guidelines on radiation dose and dose-optimization strategies in cardiovascular CT.
Over the last few years, computed tomography (CT) has developed into a standard clinical test for a variety of cardiovascular conditions. The emergence of cardiovascular CT during a period of dramatic increase in radiation exposure to the population from medical procedures and heightened concern about the subsequent potential cancer risk has led to intense scrutiny of the radiation burden of th...
متن کاملHybrid PET/CT and SPECT/CT Imaging
1.1 Definition of nuclear medicine, molecular imaging and hybrid imaging Nuclear Medicine uses radioactive probes commonly referred to as tracers for the diagnosis and treatment of diseases. Monitoring the metabolic fate of nanomolar amounts of radiolabeled substances by tracking their photon emission with SPECT (Single Photon Emission Tomography) and PET (Positron Emission Tomography) was the ...
متن کاملOptimization of Parameters in 16-slice CT-scan Protocols for Reduction of the Absorbed Dose
Introduction In computed tomography (CT) technology, an optimal radiation dose can be achieved via changing radiation parameters such as mA, pitch factor, rotation time and tube voltage (kVp) for diagnostic images. Materials and Methods In this study, the brain, abdomen, and thorax scaning was performed using Toshiba 16-slice scannerand standard AAPM and CTDI phantoms. AAPM phantom was used for...
